Who We Are

The Technology Innovation Institute (TII) aims to become a leading global research Centre dedicated to pushing the frontiers of knowledge. Our teams of scientists, researchers and engineers work in an open, flexible and agile environment to deliver discovery science and transformative technologies. Our work means we will not only prepare for the future; we will create it. Working together, we are committed to inspiring innovation for a better tomorrow.

Our rigorous discovery and inquiry-based approach helps to forge new and disruptive breakthroughs in:

  • Quantum computing
  • Autonomous robotics
  • Cryptography
  • Advanced materials
  • Digital Security
  • Directed Energy
  • Secure communication

Now a disruptor in science, we are driven to set new standards and act as a catalyst for change. We are part of the Abu Dhabi Government’s Advanced Technology Research Council, which oversees technology research in the emirate.

Facing a future of unbounded possibility supported by strategically funded investments, we encourage and value a culture of experimentation. Our work will propel the UAE to become an R&D hub – and one of the next global leaders in breakthrough technologies.

Research capabilities

We invest significantly in the development of our exceptional research facilities and centres. We access substantial funding in order to ensure that our team has the best advanced technology work environment.

Our purpose and objectives

Our purpose

We exist to help create a better world. We develop the most advanced, disruptive technological innovations designed to solve society’s greatest challenges.

Our objectives

We will attract the best scientific talent by offering world-class facilities and resources. We will partner with the best academic, scientific partners by offering access to knowledge and research collected from a diverse, distinguished talent base. We will service the best clients by offering proprietary knowledge and data, a clear path from research to innovation, and a shared commitment to advancing the long-term public good.

What we do

At TII, we help society overcome its biggest hurdles through a rigorous approach to scientific discovery and inquiry, using state-of-the-art facilities and collaboration with leading international institutions.

Today, we have built a research environment focused on solutions and driven by proprietary and partnership research.

Partnership research

We partner internationally with everyone from research institutes and academic bodies to pioneering start-ups. Together, we enable pioneering advances, IP development, and product and system improvements.

Proprietary research

We conduct research across seven key areas of focus. Outcomes are deployed to help solve the challenges of our partners and customers, or they are developed for commercialisation.

Our Team

Guided by a Scientific Advisory Board of highly regarded experts from around the world, we operate transparently with our employees, partners and clients – putting our focus firmly on scientific achievement.

Our leadership team brings a passion for innovation, along with expertise, having studied and worked at some of the most prestigious and pioneering universities and companies in the world.

In addition, each of our research centres is supported by its own independent consultative scientific panel comprised of accomplished scientists with expertise in their respective fields.
