Advanced Materials Research Center

Dr. Giuseppe Del Guercio, Researcher, holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering and a MSc in Additive Manufacturing (AM) from Politecnico di Torino (Italy), and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nottingham (UK). He’s been involved in numerous research works focused on the understanding of the dynamic thermal conditions experienced by additive manufacturing (AM) materials during rapid solidification and the effects of chemical composition on the formation of hot cracks. In order to answer his researcher questions, Dr. Del Guercio adopts high-fidelity computational techniques coupled with targeted experiments to correlate the thermal history of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF-LB) with the resulting microstructure, defect formation, and mechanical properties. The aim of his research is to optimize difficult-to-print engineering materials and design new alloy grades for the aerospace and automotive industrial sectors. His works have been presented in numerous international conferences and published in well-established scientific journals.
