Dr. Andre Rainer Esser
Dr. Andre Esser is a Director at the Cryptography Research Center of the Technology Innovation Institute (TII) in Abu Dhabi. He leads a group of researchers and engineers, setting technical direction across cryptographic research and applied security programs. His work connects fundamental research with the engineering and organizational decisions needed to put advanced cryptographic technologies into practice.
His research focuses on post-quantum cryptography, particularly cryptanalysis, code-based constructions, and concrete security estimation. He co-designed three digital signature schemes submitted to NIST’s post-quantum standardization process and led the development of CryptographicEstimators, an open-source security evaluation framework. He publishes at leading international cryptography conferences and contributes through program committee service and doctoral supervision.
Dr. Esser also co-leads a national post-quantum migration program supporting government and private-sector organizations, providing technical direction on cryptographic transition planning and high-assurance security architecture. He also directs research and GPU acceleration for TII’s fully homomorphic encryption technology. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Ruhr University Bochum, Germany.
