Abu Dhabi – 16 January 2025: Leading global scientists, industry pioneers, and academic researchers in quantum science and technology will convene in Abu Dhabi for the Quantum Technology Symposium (QTS), taking place from January 27 to January 29, 2025, at the Hilton Yas Island. Organized by the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), a leading global applied research center under Abu Dhabi’s Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC), the event marks the first such gathering in the Middle East during the UNESCO International Year of Quantum Science and Technology.

The symposium will feature internationally renowned speakers, including leading figures from top institutions such as the University of California - Santa Barbara, the University of Oxford, the UK’s National Quantum Computing Centre, the National University of Singapore, Duke Quantum Center, and the Max Planck-Institute of Quantum Optics. Experts from TII’s Quantum Research Center will also share valuable insights into their research and provide updates on key developments in the field.

Dr. Najwa Aaraj, CEO of TII, said: “The Quantum Technology Symposium comes at a pivotal moment in the 2025 International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, highlighting the urgency and importance of advancing quantum research. This event will not only celebrate the remarkable progress in quantum technologies but also provide a platform to foster global collaboration in this transformative field."

Leandro Aolita, Acting Chief Researcher of TII’s Quantum Research Center added: “As the quantum community gathers in Abu Dhabi, we aim to spark conversations on the critical challenges and unprecedented opportunities that quantum technologies present, paving the way for advancements that have a profound impact on science, industry, and society.”

Quantum Technology: Transforming Science and Industry

Quantum technology is revolutionizing industries with applications in secure communications, advanced computation, and innovative sensing solutions, offering transformative potential for science and industry.

TII has been at the forefront of this transformation. In 2023, it fabricated the MENA region’s first superconducting qubit, a breakthrough that highlighted the UAE’s commitment to quantum innovation. Since then, TII’s Quantum Research Center has achieved significant milestones, including quantum-inspired algorithms for aerospace and automotive design, powerful quantum algorithms for industry-relevant optimization problems, and the launch of Qibo, an open-source quantum programming platform that democratizes quantum computing globally. Notably, TII also implemented the region’s first domestic quantum key distribution solution, enhancing secure communications capabilities. Additionally, the center has published numerous scientific works and forged industry collaborations and partnerships. Together, these achievements have solidified TII’s position as a global leader and established the UAE as a key player in shaping the future of quantum science.

Engage with the Future of Quantum Technology

The Quantum Technology Symposium will include thought-provoking keynotes and forward-looking panel discussions, offering participants a unique opportunity to engage with global experts and explore the latest advancements in quantum technology.
