Title: | Superconducting Qubit Activities at IFAE |
Location: | Accelerator Building 2 – Auditorium 1 |
Abstract: | The Quantum Computing Technology (QCT) group at IFAE develops superconducting qubits for quantum computing, quantum optics and quantum sensing applications. The main focus of the group is the use of flux qubit for quantum annealing applications. In this talk I will give an overview of the QCT group activities, focusing on 3 fronts:

Bio: | Dr. Pol Forn-Díaz has a long career in the field of experimental superconducting qubits. He carried out his PhD at TU Delft (The Netherlands) supervised by Prof. J. E. Mooij, one of the discoverers of the flux qubit. His main project focused on the interaction of qubits and resonators in the ultrastrong coupling regime. Then he was a visitor at MIT in the group of Prof. W. D. Oliver and moved on to postdoctoral positions at Caltech (Kimble lab) and IQC Waterloo (Prof. Wilson, Prof. Lupascu). In 2017, Dr. Forn-Díaz returned to Spain to start the quantum computing project from the Barcelona Supercomputing Center. In 2019 he moved to IFAE and established the first superconducting qubit lab in Spain. He currently leads several national and international projects developing superconducting qubit technology for quantum computation. He is also co-founder of the startup Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech SL. |
