Title: | System and Software Design - With focus on HIL applications in the age of LLMs/AI |
Location: | Wave Auditorium, Masdar Office |
Abstract: | This talk delves into the intricate world of System and Software Design for advanced hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) applications. It explores the critical aspects of designing and implementing high-performance, low-latency software architectures that seamlessly integrate with cutting-edge hardware. We will further discuss the challenge of the academic environment for software and emphasize pathways in building robust and scalable solutions for research and development. The presentation will encompass a segment dedicated to LLMs / Coding Agents and their impact and potential in the design and operation of complex HIL systems. |
Bio: | Roland Siegbert is a Senior Research Software Engineer at the Quantum Device Lab at ETH Zürich. He has a PhD in Computer Engineering Science from RWTH Aachen University and studied Physics, which he still dearly loves. His current focus includes Control Software, automating Sample Design, and the Optimization of hardware and control of superconducting circuits in quantum computing. He has also worked in industry as a Tech Lead at Deutsche Telekom and in R&D at Sonova, developing hearing aids, while being affected by single-sided deafness himself. |
